May 1st marks something deeply meaningful for our Team at Assistance Home Care. It’s more than an anniversary. It’s a reflection of why we began and the families who continue to shape our purpose every single day.
Fifteen years ago, Allen Serfas and Sally Serfas started Assistance Home Care in honor of Sally’s mom, Gearldean, after walking through her journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Like so many families, in their story they experienced firsthand the challenges, emotions, and uncertainty that come with caring for a loved one who simply wants to remain at home.
That experience became something bigger. It became a Mission.

From One Family to Over 5,00+ Families Served
What started as one family’s story has grown into a calling that has now reached over 5,000+ families across Greater St. Louis and Chicago.
Each family has their own story. A daughter trying to balance work, kids, and caregiving. A spouse navigating memory loss alongside someone they love. A son trying to make the right decision after a hospital stay. These are not just care plans. These are real lives, real moments, and real trust placed in our Team.
And that trust is something we never take lightly.
