A Message from our President and Co-Founder, Allen Serfas:

Next week, I have the incredible honor of heading to our nation’s capital to represent the countless family caregivers across the country — including the families we are privileged to serve each and every day at Assistance Home Care.
As part of the Alzheimer’s Forum, I’ll be meeting with our Senators and Representatives to ask for their support of several critical initiatives, including:
- The Credit for Caring Act, which would provide up to $5,000 in federal tax relief for family caregivers who sacrifice so much to care for their loved ones.
- The ASAP Act (Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention Act), a newly introduced bill focused on improving early detection and prevention strategies.
- The AADAPT Act (Accelerating Access to Dementia and Alzheimer’s Providers and Treatments), which aims to increase access to much-needed care and support for individuals living with dementia and their families.
With more than 11.5 million Americans providing unpaid care to loved ones living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, it’s time our laws reflect the support caregivers truly need. These initiatives can bring long-overdue relief, better access to care, and earlier interventions that improve quality of life.
This trip is deeply personal to me. As a proud member of the Greater Missouri Alzheimer’s Association Board of Directors, a member of the AIM Leadership Society, and the co-founder of Assistance Home Care, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible strength, resilience, and love of those caring for a spouse, parent, or loved one at home.
To be their voice on Capitol Hill is a privilege I don’t take lightly.
If you or your family need help today, please don’t hesitate to connect with our Assistance Home Care Team. Whether you’re exploring home care options or looking for trusted local resources, I’m here to help connect you to the support you deserve.
