Partnering With Aging Ahead to Strengthen Our Community
This morning, our Co-Founder Allen Serfas had the honor of presenting at the Breakthrough Coalition on behalf of Aging Ahead sharing “Bet You Didn’t Know” fast facts about one of the most impactful organizations serving older adults across St. Louis.
For decades, Aging Ahead has been on the front lines of compassion, delivering care, dignity, and connection to thousands of older adults throughout our region. Their mission is simple yet profound: to keep older adults safe, nourished, and independent, but they can’t do it alone.
At Assistance Home Care, we see firsthand how Aging Ahead’s programs uplift families, empower caregivers, and build stronger, more connected communities. Here are just a few of the many ways they make a difference.
1. Feeding the Body and the Soul
Through Meals on Wheels, Aging Ahead delivers hot, nutritious meals and human connection to thousands of older adults each day. For many, that knock at the door is the only friendly face they’ll see. Behind every meal is a moment of hope, reminding someone they’re not forgotten.
2. Ending Isolation Before It Becomes Despair
Loneliness is one of the greatest health risks facing older adults. Aging Ahead’s senior centers provide a safe, welcoming space to share a meal, play a game, or simply be with others. These centers aren’t just buildings… they’re lifelines for seniors and older adults in the Greater St. Louis area.
3. Lifting the Weight Off Family Caregivers
Their Family Caregiver Support Program provides guidance, education, and respite care to help family caregivers sustain their strength. It’s a reminder that caregivers deserve care, too and that no one has to walk this journey alone.
4. Keeping Older Adults Safe at Home
Through partnerships with local organizations and dedicated case managers, Aging Ahead coordinates in-home care, transportation, and meal services to help older adults age in place with dignity. Every visit supports their wish to remain where they feel most at peace… at home.
5. Bringing Compassion Through Companionship
Aging Ahead’s Whiskers on Wheels program ensures seniors never have to choose between feeding themselves or their pets. By delivering pet food to homebound older adults, they keep bellies and hearts full.
6. Turning Confusion Into Clarity
Navigating Medicare, housing, and benefits can be overwhelming. Aging Ahead’s counselors offer personalized guidance to help families find the right support at the right time. Their care is not just about services it’s about empowerment.
7. Protecting Health and Preventing Crises
Wellness checks, nutrition education, and fall-prevention programs help keep seniors healthy and out of the hospital. A single proactive visit can prevent unnecessary suffering and maintain independence longer.
8. Building Stronger Communities Through Service
From volunteer meal deliveries to friendly check-ins, Aging Ahead connects neighbors through service. Every act of kindness, large or small, strengthens the bonds that make our community whole.
9. Standing Up for the Most Vulnerable
Aging Ahead also advocates for and protects older adults facing abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Their work ensures that every senior has a voice, and someone willing to stand up for them.
10. Keeping Hope Alive in Every Neighborhood
Every dollar raised stays right here in our local community, supporting programs that bring dignity, safety, and compassion to those who need it most.
