ALS United’s Care Services Team is now serving Missouri.
The ALS United Missouri Team brings decades of experience to support ALS patients and families.
ALS resources individuals, families and caregivers can access through ALS United:
- Personalized care management: local nurses or social workers to support you from diagnosis through end-of-life.
- Educational programs and support groups, with local groups now forming in St. Louis.
- Respite grants to ease caregiving costs.
When Education, Advocacy, and Community Come Together
We recently had the privilege of gathering with members of the Aging Life Care Association for an educational event focused on ALS. The conversation was powerful. The takeaways mattered. The impact lasted well beyond the room.
We learned that about 30,000 people live with ALS today, with a new diagnosis every 90 minutes. ALS impacts adults across ages, though most are diagnosed between 50 and 60. Diagnosis is often delayed, and only 10% of cases are familial.
A heartfelt thank you to ALS United for being such a critical resource for our community. Their mission-driven work supports individuals and families living with ALS from diagnosis through every stage of the journey. Education. Advocacy. Care coordination. Family support. These services change lives.
A special thank you to Anna Zelinske from ALS United Missouri for presenting. Her depth of knowledge and real-world perspective helped professionals better understand the realities of ALS. She brought clarity to a complex disease and reinforced why early connection to specialized resources matters for families and individuals living with ALS.
We also want to recognize Dolan Memory Care Centers for graciously hosting the event and providing breakfast. Their continued commitment to education and collaboration strengthens the entire aging care community.
One of the most moving moments of the morning came from a video shared during the presentation.
Video: “When Love Is Stronger Than ALS.”
The video delivered an unfiltered look at how ALS impacts not only the person living with the disease, but also the people who love them. Daily care. Emotional weight. Resilience. Devotion. The message was clear. ALS reshapes lives, yet love, dignity, and connection remain at the center.
For professionals, families, and caregivers, this event reinforced three truths.
- ALS demands specialized knowledge and coordinated care.
- Families need guidance, advocacy, and support early.
- Community partnerships elevate outcomes for everyone involved.
We are grateful to be part of a community that shows up, learns together, and supports families facing some of life’s hardest challenges.
